To everything, turn turn turn
Happy Friday, friend!
One of my favorite parts about having a business used to be having a place to tell stories. While these stories were experiences in my own life, I realized early on that the themes could apply to almost everyone’s life and the connection that sharing those stories brought to me felt like a life purpose as good as any.
Due to illness, I haven’t been able to keep up that regular practice of, well, living a life that brought experiences that were fun to share, but also any sort of regular writing practice.
Throughout the years I’ve given myself the grace and space to be where I’m at, and share when I could, and still keep my creativity alive in the small ways that worked for me and last year, that looked like a bunch of different haiku projects shared on my Instagram.
A highlight of my 2023 were these projects, pairing a song, a picture of a 90’s celebrity, and a haiku about life, love, loss, cancer, and answering people’s questions in haiku form.
For awhile I was doing that every day on Insta, but I’m trying to be off social media as much as possible right now, so that practice has fallen off. BUT, I’m not done with these fun little poems, so I thought I could share some here.
Today’s haiku is a roundup of the vibe, experiences, or things I’ve thought about this week. I hope you enjoy, and perhaps can relate. It’s titled “To Everything” and here’s the song I’d pair with it.
This haiku was born from the idea of remembering to embrace the cycles of life, and the ever-changing landscape of it. It’s the rise and fall of the tide, the moon after the sun sets, the rainbow after the rain, and the embrace after the fight.
Below…for my VIP Metal Heads, is the haiku I almost posted, about a person I hadn’t seen in 12 years. I hope you have a wonderful day today, turn turn turn.
